	This years ISES UK People Awards took place on 10th July 2008 at The Grange City Hotel, Tower Bridge as part of the AGM and Summer Party. The following individuals were welcomed on stage by our immediate past president Mike Kershaw in recognition of their extraordinary achievements within the specail events industry.

Special Event Sales Person of the Year

	Claire Berry Formerly of Fortesqueue's, where she worked as an events sales person for two years, Claire was responsible for the Room by the River venue.

Duncan Mitchell and Dean Friday, Lola Events

Duncan Mitchell and Dean Friday do not have the typical resumes for likely candidates to set up an Event and Promotional Staffing Agency. Both have double Commerce degrees in General Management and Marketing and Accounting and Finance respectively. And neither had even thought about a career in the events industry until very recently.

Lola Events, based at trendy location The Gallery Soho on Charing Cross Road is fast becoming one of the industry's favourite glamorous event staffing agencies.

Special Event Entrepreneur of the Year

Pete Phillips, The Incredible Icecream Company

Having worked for “rhubarb” for 7 years starting as a waiter and finishing as a senior manager, Pete first created Mint Catering to later move on to create The Incredible Ice Cream Company. Following a request for something new from chocolate fountains, Pete came up with the concept of the interactive icecream bar to 'make a statement and bring fun and theatre to any party'.

Damian Clarkson, Redsnapper Events

Damian Clarkson is a well known fixture on the London events circuit, having planned and catered for some of the most prestigious events on the social calendar. In every celebrity planner’s Little Black Book, Red Snapper Events are a firm favourite of fashionistas, A-listers, The FTSE 100 and London’s elite.

Special Event Producer of the Year

Nick Wright, The Rouge Partnership

Nick has been organising events for ten years. Operational management is his speciality and his practical skills are the glue holding Rouge together. Nick prides himself both on his attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
Before the setting up of Rouge Events, he worked as a Banqueting Operations Manager at The Dorchester on London's Park Lane. Nick acts as the 'floor manager' at events and relishes the opportunity to manage large numbers of both guests and staff.

Venue Manager of the Year

Alicia Dickinson, The Science Museum

After completing a degree in communication studies, Alicia worked in advertising sales for nearly three years before re-locating to London and taking on the role of Senior Sales & Marketing Executive at the Science Museum in 2004. Promoted to Sales & Marketing Manager in 2006, she then decided to take a career break to travel the world for a year and returned to the organisation as Communications Manager for NMSI Events as a whole (incorporating four national museum venues) back in December 2007.

Ami Slater, Leeds Metropolitain University

With a glowing referral from Patrick Loy of The Greater London Authority, Amy has been described as being ‘someone to watch out for’. With an impressive track record of jobs including the finale of the London leg of the Bejing Torch Relay, large headlining outdoor concerts and the pro Tibet demonstrations…Ami has proven herself to be ready for anything the industry as to offer.

Outstanding Achievement in a Creative Role

Emma Boardman, Studio Boardman

Emma set up my own company in 2002 and has continued to grow and grow from entertainment agency to now the new purchase of a Victorian artist house in Barons Court which houses the office as well as a fabulous, hireable event space.

Outstanding Achievement in a Logistics Role

Yesse Spence, Esprit Group

Yesse has extensive experience in the hospitality industry working in such notable restaurants as Glass at the Sydney Hilton, the Waterfront Sydney, Luke Mangans Salt and Nobu London to name but a few.

Yesse started work as an Esprit Elite Hostess in 2006 and in 2008 she happily started in the position of Elite client manager at the Esprit group, heading up the division.

Outstanding Contribution to the Special Events Industry

Sally Webb, The Special Event Company

Sally has worked in special events for 27 years, forming her own special event agency in 1986. She has been committed to professional development in the event industry for over a decade, and was one of the founding members of the UK ISES Chapter.

She held the position of President Elect to Tony Timms in the first year, the President, Immediate Past President, Regional Vice President and on the Board of Governors in the USA. In 2004/5 she chaired the International Past Leaders Council, and has sat on the ISES International Education, International Relations and ESPRIT Awards Committees. She currently sits on the CSEP Certification Committee.

Sally has sat on the Advisory Board of Special Event Magazine and recently represented the UK on a trade delegation to India at the invitation of the government to assist in establishing an accredited event industry in the country. In 2004 Sally was voted International Event Producer of the Year in the US, and in 2005 became an Executive in Residence at the US’s most recognized event management school, Temple University in Philadelphia where she has a
Professorship, and also teaches at Oxford Brookes University in Oxford and UCLA in California. She is also the first European to gain the CSEP certification.

Sally has practiced the true spirit of ISES by opening offices in the US and forming an affiliation in Australia, working with ISES members on projects around the globe. In 2005 she started her own professional development conference, Academic Event Professional for University Event Planners which is now entering
its third successful year.
