Internships With ISES Members

ISES members can offer internships to students currently studying Event Management in universities around the UK.  This is an opportunity that will not only benefit the student by ensuring that their experience is relevant and linked to their course, it also provides employers with enthusiastic, hard working and knowledgeable short term labour to work on specific projects without the financial burden of long term employment.  For both parties it means commitment – so please think carefully whether you can provide the necessary support.

1 The typical requirements for a undergraduate internship in the UK are 14 weeks paid or non paid employment in a organization that matches their career goals.  Your organization must provide an individual to act as a mentor / supervisor and the work must enable the student to learn new skills rather than simply repeat past experiences.  Typically internships take place in the summer and students select them by 1 March.  However, more often internships are also happening in the Spring term and students select them by 1 November.

There is currently no central register for bringing companies and students together.  ISES UK will submit your internship offer on your behalf and will facilitate applications and introductions to students.  It is your responsibility, after the placement has been made, to monitor and report on the student’s work.

Each student registers through their own university or college to receive credit for the internship.  If pay is provided, it is usually minimum wage, around £7.00 per hour.  However, all expenses are usually provided by the host location such as accommodation if needed or travel allowance.
