ISES News
ISES Student Development Programme We are pleased to announce our ISES Student Development Programme is launching this quarter. The scheme has been set up to highlight the talent, initiative and commitment of event and hospitality management students and the vital role they will play in the future of the industry, and will offer exceptional educational opportunities and work experience.
ISES members ‘Off to Work’ are providing sponsored membership of ISES for one faculty staff member and four students at up to ten higher education institutions. On recommendation from the sponsored member of staff, students who have excelled in their studies or participation within their course will be offered first refusal of the membership scheme.
Planned highlights of the student package include:
- Free entry to networking/educational events throughout the year
- Special events career planning support programme - articles/resources/blogs on ISES UK website and mentor matching programme
- Student Internship Programme - placement of interns in ISES member companies
- Work experience putting together ISES events
- New ISES students present at monthly events announced to the room
- Event shadowing opportunities
Faculty benefits will include:
- Direct links with ISES members when looking to secure student placements, and a potential student fair in Feb/March every year where students looking for placements get to meet employers.
- Potential esteem of students / faculty being ISES award winners
- Opportunity to offer their ISES member students work experience
- Tap into ISES educational programme
- ISES panel discussion, much like Question Time, where your students have the opportunity to put their questions to industry experts.
In addition to this in spring next year, we will also be running our first annual competition for ISES student members to decide the ISES Student of the Year. In order to compete for this title students must submit a proposal based on a real life brief, this will be then judged by a an esteemed panel of top-level event professionals selected by ISES. The winner will be the ISES UK Student President for the year, working with the student programme and representing ISES at industry events. There will also be potential opportunities for the ISES Student President to represent the UK at Event World in the United States.
This sponsored initiative will only be made available to ten higher education faculties within the UK and a suggested deadline of the 10th September is in place. After September 10th, faculties and individual students will still be able to join the ISES student programme, at a cost of only £150 per student, and a reduced full member rate of £350 for the faculty itself.
For the students there will be the option of spreading their membership fee by paying £50 per term over the academic year. The student programme will however be restricted to an annual maximum of 100 students and faculty members in order to ensure proper exposure to ISES resources, event attendance and networking prospects.
