Welcoming In 2010

The new ISES year began in a similar vain to how we finished the Noughties, with a raft of content and member benefits. It was amazing to see so many of you attend our Decade of Sport conference on Wednesday 27 January at Somerset House. Decade of Sport, staged in association with Visit London, was the first major conference to detail opportunities that exist for venues, suppliers and agencies around significant sporting occasions planned and confirmed until 2019. These included the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, a possible FIFA World Cup in 2018, the NFL’s competitive American football matches, ATP Tennis Finals and many more events outlined by our four keynote speakers. |
I’d like once again to thank our sponsors (Fisher Productions, Sound By Design, Thorns, Simon Lane Photography, Leith’s Catering, Richmond Creative Event Catering, Absolute Hospitality and Sternberg Clarke) for making such an inspiring event take place. Without your support, ISES would struggle to stage such important and educational events. If you’re interested in becoming a sponsor and would like to learn more about the exposure we can offer your company at our forthcoming events, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
I’m also delighted to announce this month that Jonathan Byrne, Chief Operating Officer for the Royal Aeronautical Society has joined the Board as Director-at-Large for business relationships. Jonathan has been an ISES member since it’s foundation as a UK Chapter in 1997 previously serving on the board in 1998 and 1999. He has a varied 30 year career in Hospitality and Tourism including travel companies, airlines, hotels, conference centres and a range of event services companies in both operational and marketing & sales roles. His new ISES UK remit is to facilitate our regional expansion, introductions between members and to kick-start our planned ISES Connects programme. With Jonathan onboard and with our forthcoming Meet the Market showcase just around the corner on 23 February at the Wyndham Grand hotel, this is already shaping up to be a great year to engage with ISES as we help you to exploit opportunities across all market sectors, and to continue to grow the footprint of ISES from city to city across the UK.
All the best,
Zanine Adams President ISES UK |
